Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit DevOpsCompass (www.devopscompass.com and fr.devopscompass.com), why, and what your rights are. Google Analytics is currently used on the English site (www.devopscompass.com) only.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Adam ALI, who runs DevOpsCompass as a private individual (see About). Contact: contact@devopscompass.com. A postal address is not published on this site; where the law requires it, it will be provided on request to the address above.
Hosting (Blogger by Google)
This site is hosted on Blogger, a service of Google. When you visit a page, Google processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and secure the service. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Advertising
This site is registered with Google AdSense, and ads served by Google may be shown on its pages. A consent message for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland is being set up through Google's consent management platform (AdSense "Privacy & messaging"); this section will be updated when it is active. Until then, you can refuse or manage advertising cookies and personalised ads at adssettings.google.com and in your browser settings (blocking or deleting cookies). Advertising choices are separate from the "Analytics cookie settings" link for Google Analytics described below.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Audience measurement (Google Analytics 4)
On www.devopscompass.com we use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited (for users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland) and Google LLC, to understand which pages are read and how visitors find them. Google Analytics runs only if you click "Accept" in the cookie message shown on your first visit. Until then, the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all and no analytics cookie is set.
- Google Consent Mode v2: before anything else, the page sets every Google consent signal (analytics storage, ad storage, ad user data, ad personalisation) to "denied". Accepting changes only analytics storage to "granted"; the three advertising signals stay "denied".
- Data collected after you accept: pages viewed, referring page, approximate location (country/region derived by Google from your IP address; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses), device, browser and screen information, and interactions such as scrolling or clicks on outbound links.
- Settings we use: Google signals off, ad personalisation signals off, IP anonymisation requested, no linking to Google Ads. No page view is recorded on error (404) pages or in Blogger's preview.
- Retention: Google Analytics keeps event data for 14 months.
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Cookies and storage used for analytics
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics (only after "Accept") | Distinguishes visitors | 2 years |
_ga_KRDCPSLB3G | Google Analytics (only after "Accept") | Keeps the session state | 2 years |
dc_consent (localStorage, not a cookie) | This site | Remembers your choice (accept or reject) so the message is not shown again; stays on your device and is not sent to us | Until you clear your browser data |
Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change your choice at any time with the "Analytics cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. If you choose "Reject" after having accepted, Google Analytics stops sending data immediately and the _ga cookies are deleted from your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Blogger also shows the site owner aggregated page-view statistics; these are produced by Google as the hosting provider.
Comments and contact
If you leave a comment, it is processed by Blogger and is linked to your Google account or the name you provide; comments are public. If you email us, we use your message only to reply and keep it no longer than necessary (at most 30 days after the conversation has ended).
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links. When you click them, the merchant or affiliate network may set cookies to attribute a purchase. Every article that contains affiliate links says so at the top of the article.
Legal bases (GDPR)
Consent (Google Analytics and, where applicable, advertising cookies; you can withdraw it at any time, see above), legitimate interest (security and operation of the site, answering messages), and legal obligations where applicable.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Contact contact@devopscompass.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
International transfers
Google and other providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards described in their own policies.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version.
