Editorial Policy

This page explains how DevOpsCompass articles are researched, written, checked and updated.

Principles

  • Accuracy first. Commands, configurations and version numbers are checked against official documentation. Where practical, we also reproduce the steps in a test environment before publishing, and we say so in the article when we have not.
  • Safety. Potentially destructive commands are flagged with a warning box, and secrets are never shown in real form.
  • Sources. We link to primary sources (official docs, changelogs, standards) when they support a claim.
  • Independence. Advertising and affiliate relationships do not influence recommendations. Sponsored content, if any, is clearly labelled.

Use of AI tools

AI tools may assist with research, outlines, drafts, translation between our English and French editions, and illustrations. The site owner personally reviews every article before it is published. Illustrative AI-generated images are not presented as real screenshots.

Article types

  • DevOps, Docker, Linux and security guides. Commands marked as tested were run in throwaway containers on our own server on the date shown in the article's "Last verified" line. Anything we could not test is marked as such and based on the official documentation linked in the Sources section.
  • Local AI and AI News articles. These are documentation and news roundups, not lab reviews. Official facts come from the vendor's own pages; user reports are quoted with links and are not verified by us; our own opinion is in a clearly marked section, followed by a list of what we did not test.

Updates and corrections

Technical topics change quickly. Articles are reviewed and updated; the "Last updated" date shows the latest significant revision. To report an error, email contact@devopscompass.com (see Contact); confirmed mistakes are corrected and significant corrections are noted at the end of the article.

Translations

Articles available in both languages are linked to each other. A translation may be published later than the original and is reviewed separately.

Our sections

Each section page explains what we cover and lists the latest articles: DevOps, Docker, Linux, Security, Local AI, AI News.
